Tara has worked in primary education since 2014 and brings over a decade of experience supporting children with a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs. Since qualifying as a Higher-Level Learning Support Assistant (HLLSA) in 2018, Tara has delivered whole-class teaching alongside targeted interventions, helping children develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
Working with children from EYFS through to Year 6, Tara has extensive experience in diverse, multicultural school settings and has specialised within an Additional Resource Provision (Autism), supporting children with speech, language and communication needs. She uses a range of evidence-based communication strategies and resources, including core boards, Widget symbols and visual schedules, to encourage communication, independence and participation.
Tara has received specialist training in Colourful Semantics, Attention Bucket, Down Syndrome support, the Thrive Approach, and the Zones of Regulation. Her approach combines communication-focused teaching with social and emotional support, ensuring each child feels understood, valued and able to thrive.
Tara is passionate about building positive relationships with children and their families, creating supportive and engaging environments where communication and learning can flourish.
