London Speech Therapy Expands With Four New Therapists
Growing London practice strengthens specialist team to meet increasing demand for speech and language therapy services across the city.
London Speech Therapy has expanded its team with the appointment of four new therapists – strengthening its ability to support children and adults across the capital and surrounding counties.
The expansion comes as the practice continues to see growing demand for its speech, language, stammering and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) related services from families and schools.
Tara Mower, Niamh Bradley, Nishika Chadha and Jada Wontumi bring additional expertise and capacity to the team at London Speech Therapy, which has clinics across the city in Stratford, Clapham, Belgravia, Monument and Harley Street.
Emily Kirchin, Joint Managing Director of London Speech Therapy, said: “Demand for speech and language therapy services shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, it’s quite the opposite, so expanding our team is an important step. It’s exciting to be growing and to have such a strong group of new therapists joining us. We are delighted to welcome Tara, Niamh, Nishika and Jada to the team. Each brings their own experience and specialist expertise, which will help us support more people while continuing to provide the highly personalised care that is central to our approach.”
The new appointments take London Speech Therapy’s team to 20 and forms part of the practice’s plans to increase the support available to children and adults across London.
Established in 2009, London Speech Therapy currently supports hundreds of clients / families each year across all 32 London boroughs and the City of London, Kent and Essex, with appointments available at clinics, in patient homes, schools and places of work, and online. The practice also works with more than 40 schools across the city and Kent.
At London Speech Therapy’s Stratford clinic, the newest recruit is Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLTA) Tara Mower – who has more than a decade of experience in primary education, supporting children from early years through to Year 6 with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. Passionate about creating supportive, engaging environments that build children’s communication, confidence and independence, Tara works closely with autistic children and their teachers and families, using evidence-based approaches including Colourful Semantics and Attention Bucket. Tara is available for appointments in clinic in Stratford and can also support schools in the local area.
Tara will be joined at the Stratford clinic by Niamh Bradley, who graduated from Ulster University in 2023 and has spent the last three years working with children in primary school settings, including those with autism, speech sound difficulties and Developmental Language Disorder. Passionate about child-centred practice, Niamh works collaboratively with families and schools and has experience delivering evidence-based interventions including Attention Autism and Colourful Semantics.
Providing additional support at Stratford, but also south of the river in Clapham is Nishika Chadha, who has eight years’ experience working in schools with children with a range of social, communication and emotional needs prior to her training as a Speech and Language Therapist. She has a strong academic background in psychology and child development and recently qualified as an SLT. Nishika has a particular interest in supporting autistic children via a creative, child-led and culturally inclusive approach. She also has experience supporting adults with aphasia following stroke.
While patients in Clapham and Kent will now have extra support on hand from Jada Wontumi – a Speech and Language Therapist who graduated a year ago with First Class Honours from City, University of London. Jada has experience supporting children and young adults and is particularly interested in autism, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), social communication and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Concluding, Mairead Skinner, Joint Managing Director of London Speech Therapy, added: “We are in an exciting period of growth, but our focus remains the same: making high-quality, specialist support accessible to the people who need it and helping every client achieve the best possible outcomes.”
