Sarah completed her Master of Science in Speech and Language Therapy at Birmingham City University. Prior to this, she graduated from Ulster University with First Class Honours in Language and Linguistics with Counselling, receiving two Dean’s List awards in recognition of her academic achievement. Her undergraduate dissertation explored the psycholinguistics of second language acquisition and was shortlisted for the Outstanding Dissertation Award by the Linguistics Association of Great Britain in 2020.
Professionally, Sarah has worked as the Lead Speech and Language Therapist in a mainstream school with a specialist resource base for children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), where she supported pupils with complex communication needs within an inclusive educational setting.
She has also volunteered with the Language Made Fun programme, established by Barnardo’s Northern Ireland and the Ulster Centre on Multilingualism, which supports multilingual migrant children with their language development while promoting the maintenance of their home languages.
Sarah has extensive experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across both mainstream and specialist school settings. In addition, she has worked with adults with autism and complex needs who were detained under the Mental Health Act.
