Before qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist, Nishika spent 8 years working across schools, supporting children with a range of social, communication and emotional needs, gaining a strong understanding of how children learn and engage in everyday classroom environments. Simultaneously over the years, Nishika was completing a Masters in Social and Cultural Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis, and Psychology. This training informed Nishika’s unconscious processes and the way in which this can influence communication, behaviour and engagement across environments, supporting a deeper understanding of the child’s world.
Nishika brings a creative and flexible approach to therapy, and strives to develop engaging child-led activities tailored to the child’s interests to make sessions are enjoyable, motivating and meaningful to encourage confidence and involvement in therapy.
Nishika has a particular interest in supporting autistic children and is passionate about multiculturalism and the importance of creating a culturally inclusive environment to ensure the child feels understood, valued and supported.
Nishika also has experience working with adults with aphasia post-stroke.
