FAQs

FAQs

  • Where can I be seen?

For your convenience we offer sessions from both of our London clinics (located in Central and East London), from the comfort of your home or your child’s nursery/school.

  • Where are your clinics located?

We have two London clinics – one in Harley Street central London, and one in Stratford East London.

  • Is your clinic accessible?

Our Harley Street clinic has access via a ramp (on request) via the front door. Please request an accessible room at time of booking for therapy sessions. Our Stratford clinic is step free from the entrance (via the car park on Water Lane). There is lift access inside the building to the first floor.

  • I live outside of the UK, can I access therapy from you?

Of course! We offer both teletherapy sessions online, as well as overseas therapy.

  • What is an initial assessment?

An initial assessment is the first time we meet you. This session is tailored to your individual needs and based on information provided on the case history form you are asked to fill in before the session. Typically, initial assessments last 60 minutes and involve a range of assessment methods, such as:

    - Parental/client interview

    - Observation of the child at play

    - Informal, (play-based for children) assessment

    - Formal assessment

    - Feedback on exactly what the difficulties are and how therapy could help

    - Strategies and ideas to take away

  • Why do I need an assessment, can I not jump straight into therapy sessions?

As therapists, it is important for us to gain a clear, holistic picture of your needs before we can begin therapy. There may be things you might not have considered that will be important for us to know, and it helps us gain a clear picture of you/your child so that we can plan and tailor our therapy to your exact needs.  It also provides us with a baseline of your/ the child’s skills and differences on which we can set goals and measure progress.

  • Do I need to bring anything to the initial assessment?

For paediatric appointments it is useful to bring along your child’s red book, as well as any relevant reports from other professionals they may have seen (e.g. previous speech therapy. audiology, ENT, occupational therapy etc). Plus any educational reports that might be relevant e.g. EHC Plans or nursery / school reports.

It can also be very helpful to bring along a short video of your child communicating naturally in the comfort of their home environment. Although our clinics and therapists are very friendly and welcoming, for some children who might be shy or nervous, they may find it more difficult to communicate how they naturally would at home. This means a video is a very useful tool for our therapists to have a peek at!

  • Why do I need to fill out forms and provide detailed info ahead of my assessment?

For all children we require by law written parental consent for them to be seen, and we cannot carry out an assessment without this. It is also very useful for us to have information prior to the assessment on you or your child’s speech and language needs so that we can plan a tailored, holistic assessment for them.  We also required signed Terms and Conditions as part of our own protection.

  • Do you have a waiting list?

Not typically, but depending on where and when you wish to be seen and which level of therapist you would like to see, we may have a short waiting list. Please contact us to discuss your needs further.
